Cross Country Kicks Off Season on Saturday

Kinard makes coaching debut for Scotties

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Agnes Scott College's cross country program will begin their season on Saturday, August 30, as they head to Collegiate Conference of the South foe, Covenant College, for the Mountainside Stride. The event will take place in Chattanooga, Tenn. at the Reflection Riding and Arboretum Nature Center.

The Scotties will feature several new faces, including head coach Vanitta Kinard, who will be heading up cross country and the new track program at Agnes Scott. Returning on the course for the Scotties are two of the top runners for the Scotties from a year ago, junior Jane Scanlan-Emigh and senior Jordan Schrage. They will be joined by sophomore Anissa Brailsford, first-year Elise Brown, and graduate student Charlotte Cooksey for the opening meet.

The Scotties, who finished fourth in the CCS standings a year ago, were recently picked to finish in 5th place, with CCS newcomer and defending champion, Asbury, picked to repeat, with Covenant picked to finish in second.
