HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Agnes Scott continued their cross country season with a trip to Huntsville, Alabama to take part in the Twilight at John Hunt event, featuring squads from 16 different schools throughout the Southeast. The Scotties finished a respectable 11th place, led by
Jane Scanlan-Emigh for the third time this season, as she clocked in at 20:25.69, good enough for 14th place overall out of 126 participants.
For the third straight event,
Charlotte Cooksey was the second Scottie across the line, (61st, 23:03). Senior
Jordan Schrage saw her first action of the season, finishing in 24:25, good enough for 78th. Finishing out the scoring for Agnes Scott were
Anissa Brailsford (28:24, 108th) and
Lilybeth Sanchez (29:30, 115th). For Brailsford, the 28:24 was a season's best, knocking 43 seconds off of her previous best, established at North Georgia two weeks ago.
NCAA Division I West Georgia ran away with the team title, scoring 39 points, followed by #3 ranked NJCAA Wallace State (65), who were followed closely by Collegiate Conference of the South's Covenant (66). Agnes Scott (322 points, 11th place) did finish two spots ahead of the other CCS team in the field, Huntingdon, as the Hawks came in 13th with 373 total points.
The Scotties will return to training, as their next contest is October 18 as they travel to USC Upstate for their final regular season meet.
