Mission Statement

The Agnes Scott Sports Medicine staff is responsible for the health and welfare of its student-athletes. The staff is responsible for patient education in regard to injury prevention and injury care, along with nutrition and other matters pertaining to wellness and general health. While working in conjunction with the team physician and other allied professionals, the staff's goal is to return the athlete to participation.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in administering services to Agnes Scott athletes.
  • Establish an organized sports medicine program with an emphasis on injury prevention and patient education.
  • Provide the best quality health care through comprehensive treatment and structured rehabilitation.
  • Provide athletes with an allied health professional network to address all areas of health and wellness.
  • Support the mission and goals of the Agnes Scott College Athletic Department.

Team Physician

Agnes Scott College Athletics, in conjunction with Emory Sports Medicine, provides comprehensive care for all of its student-athletes. Dr. Courtney Gleason facilitates our Scotties’ well-being and oversees their physical athletic eligibility. Our partnership with Emory Healthcare not only allows Agnes Scott student-athletes direct access to the finest in Sports Medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons, but also to physical therapy, sports cardiovascular evaluations, concussion care, and easy access to all other specialists within the hospital system.

Dr. Gleason is a nonsurgical board-certified physician in Sports Medicine and Pediatrics. Within Emory, she is the director of their Female Athlete Program. Not only is Dr. Gleason the team physician of Agnes Scott Athletics, but she is also the physician for the Atlanta Dream and the Atlanta Ballet.

Student-Athlete Information & Links

Prior to participating on a team at Agnes Scott College, student-athletes must provide the Sports Medicine staff with current address, emergency contact, insurance information, medical alert, and a copy/scan of their insurance card. To expedite this process, Agnes Scott uses an online data entry system.

First-Year and Transfer Student-Athletes will need to first create an account with this system. Please follow the instructions below to create your account. Returning Student-Athletes will need to access their pre-existing accounts to update and/or verify all information.

ATS Instructions for NEW student-athletes

ALL athletes must complete a physical prior to each competition season. It is up to the student-athlete to have one completed by a physician. There are two versions below for both new and returning student-athletes. There may also be an on-campus option for a physical for those that are local. Please check with the Head Athletic Trainer for details. 2020-21 physicals are due by November 27, 2020.
