DAHLONEGA, Ga. - On a perfect afternoon for running, the Agnes Scott cross country team continued their season with a trip to the University of North Georgia for the UNG XC Invitational. The meet featured several NAIA, NCAA Division I, II and III teams. The Scotties would finish the day with 358 points, earning them an 11th place finish out of 16 teams.
Leading the Scotties again this week was
Jane Scanlan-Emigh, who was the first Scottie across the finish line, clocking in at a blistering 20:19.1 for 28th place out of 126 runners. Next across the line for the Scotties was
Charlotte Cooksey, who finished her first 5k of the season in 22.41.7, good enough for 71st overall. The rest of the team worked together to help push one another, with two runners making their Scottie debuts. The trio came across the finish line one after the other, led by
Anissa Brailsford (108th, 29:07). Following right behind the sophomore basketball crossover athlete were two freshmen making their season debuts. First-year
Lilybeth Sanchez (109th, 29:16) and classmate
Mariana Serment-Alvarez (110th, 29:24) both made their debuts for the Scotties.
The Scotties return to the course on September 26 as they travel to Huntsville, Alabama for the Twilight at PR-Ville.
