Scotties All Run Season Bests; Finish 23rd in NCAA South Regional

Scanlan-Emigh and Cooksey lead way for Agnes Scott

FINAL RESULTS

SALEM, Va. - Agnes Scott finished off their first season under head coach Vanitta Kinard in the best way possible, as all five runners ran season-best times to lead the Scotties to a 23rd place finish at the NCAA Division III South Regional, hosted by Roanoke College at Green Hill Park. Decatur neighbor Emory University took home the team title in the race, edging out defending champions and top-seeded Washington and Lee.

For the Scotties, Jane Scanlan-Emigh ran another solid race to lead the team, finishing in a season's best of 25:29.8 on the 6k course, good enough for 92nd place in the 175 runner field. One of the most impressive performances of the day, though, came from the second Scottie to cross the finish line, Charlotte Cooksey, who torched her previous best on the season by more than a minute, dropping 1:24 from her Collegiate College of the South Championship time, to finish 111th in 26:10.9. That improvement alone helped the Scotties slide past CCS Rival, Piedmont University, in the final standings. Piedmont edged out the Scotties in the CCS Championships for 4th place by just 8 points. The Scotties were the ones with the edge, this time, beating out the Lions, 657-672.

Also running great races were the final three members of the Scottie team, as senior Jordan Schrage finished out her senior season with a 155th place finish in a season's best 28:53.70, followed by first-year Lilybeth Sanchez, who dropped a whopping 3 minutes, 27 seconds off of her CCS performance, finishing in a personal best time of 32:02.0. Two-sport athlete, Anissa Brailsford, took some time off of basketball season to help her team in the final race of the season, finishing with another personal best, dropping 30 seconds off of her CCS finish, crossing the line in 36:00.3, good enough for 172nd.

The team will now get ready for the first-ever season of Agnes Scott track, as Coach Kinard will lead the Scotties on their first season in Spring 2026.
