ATLANTA, Ga. - For the second week in a row, Agnes Scott has had a player recognized by the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) for their outstanding play. First-Year middle hitter
Feliz Pearson was named the CCS Rookie of the Week for volleyball, after helping lead the Scotties to a solid performance in a tri-match this past weekend with Paine College and Trinity (Fla.).
In the opening contest on Friday, Pearson led all players with 19 kills, and an astonishing .459 hitting percentage. She also added 3 service aces and two solo blocks in the Scotties' straight-set win over Trinity. In the second contest of the day, against host Paine College (8-3), Pearson once again was one of the leaders for the Scotties, registering 13 kills and 4 aces.
ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
