Scotties Exact Revenge on Wesleyan, 3-0

Stidum leads balanced attack for first CCS win of the season

DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott continued their impressive strides this week, as the volleyball team avenged an earlier loss this season to Wesleyan College, dominating the Wolves for a straight set win, 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-10). Madison Stidum led all players with 10 kills in the sweep for the Scotties (3-13, 1-8 Collegiate Conference of the South). In the first meeting with the Wolves (2-12, 1-8 CCS), Stidum and Adrionna Foster missed the match with injuries in the Wolves' 3-2 win.

The match was all Agnes Scott from start to finish in their most complete effort of the season, and their second sweep after having downed Trinity (Fla.) in straight sets back on Sept. 20. The service line was kind to the Scotties on the evening, as they served up 15 aces against the Wolves, while committing only one receiving error on the evening. Feliz Pearson led the way with 6 aces, to go along with 3 kills. Stidum added 4 total blocks (1 solo, 3 block assists) to her 10 kills, hitting for an incredible .444 on the evening with 10 kills on 18 attacks against only 2 errors. Jahneya Reynolds led the defense with 12 digs, and was critical in the service reception department, as the Scotties had their best receiving night of the season.

Splitting setting duties were Alofamoni Galoia and Adrionna Foster, who had 8 and 9 assists, respectively. Galoia also pitched in from behind the service line with 4 aces. Offensively, Sierra Lowery also had a stellar evening, registering 4 kills on 12 attempts with no errors for a .333 hitting percentage, and also contributing 2 block assists.

The Scotties will hope to carry momentum into the second half of the conference season, as they return to the road to take on Huntingdon (8-17, 4-5 CCS) and Covenant (12-11, 6-3 CCS) on the Huntingdon campus on Saturday, October 19. Huntingdon and Agnes Scott will face off at 2:00 p.m. followed by the match against Covenant at 4:00 p.m.
