MONTGOMERY, Ala. (April 30, 2025) – Belhaven's senior first base standout Ellie Jones leads the charge as the spotlight illuminates on her as the 2025 CCS Player of the Year. Huntingdon's Allie Roberts earns the Pitcher of the Year honor and teammate Addison Gaines secures the Rookie Pitcher of the Year title, as voted by the conference's head coaches. LaGrange's Jaselyn Couch produces a season worthy of the Rookie Player of the Year distinction, while Huntingdon's head coach Casey Chrietzberg takes home the Coach of the Year accolade for the season consecutive season, as revealed by the league office.
Player of the Year | Ellie Jones, Belhaven
Belhaven's Ellie Jones delivered a remarkable final campaign, earning 2025 CCS Player of the Year honors. Jones started all 35 games for the Blazers and dominated offensively, leading the conference in slugging percentage (.964), OPS (1.535), and home runs (12). She finished second in batting average (.514), on-base percentage (.571), and runs scored (41), while also ranking among the top five in hits (57), RBI (46), doubles (12), and walks (19). Her performance placed her among the top 20 in all of Division III in five major offensive categories. Jones led Belhaven in every major offensive statistic, powering the Blazers to a second-place finish in the regular season.
Pitcher of the Year | Allie Roberts, Huntingdon
Returning to the spotlight after earning CCS Rookie Pitcher of the Year honors earlier in her career, Huntingdon's Allie Roberts was nearly untouchable in the circle this season. The junior right-hander compiled an 18-1 record with a 1.58 ERA over 30 appearances, including 18 starts. She struck out 109 batters in 101.2 innings while holding opposing hitters to a .165 batting average. Roberts led the CCS in ERA and opponent batting average, while ranking in the top five in nearly every major pitching category. Nationally, she ranked among the top 30 in victories and finished tied for 27th in shutouts.
Rookie Player of the Year | Jaselyn Couch, LaGrange
LaGrange freshman outfielder Jaselyn Couch made an immediate impact for the Panthers, earning the CCS Rookie Player of the Year honor. Couch led the conference with 23 stolen bases and batted an impressive .388 on the season. Her 52 hits ranked sixth in the CCS, while she also contributed 19 RBI and was a dynamic presence at the top of the LaGrange lineup. Defensively, Couch excelled with just one error all season and a top five fielding percentage in the conference, while also throwing out seven baserunners from left field.
Rookie Pitcher of the Year | Addison Gaines, Huntingdon
Huntingdon's Addison Gaines stepped into the circle as a freshman and made an immediate impression, earning CCS Rookie Pitcher of the Year accolades. Gaines went 7-1 on the year with a 1.94 ERA over 61 innings pitched. She struck out 62 batters while limiting opponents to a .177 batting average. Gaines ranked among the top 10 in the conference in ERA, strikeouts, and wins, and led the league in hits allowed. She was also among the conference's best at limiting extra-base hits, giving up the fewest doubles and ranking second in both home runs and earned runs allowed.
Coach of the Year | Casey Chrietzberg, Huntingdon
For the second consecutive year, Huntingdon head coach Casey Chrietzberg has been named the CCS Coach of the Year. Chrietzberg guided the Hawks to a dominant 15-1 conference record and a regular season championship. Under his leadership, Huntingdon closed the regular season on a 12-game winning streak and is currently ranked No. 9 in the NFCA Division III Top 25 poll.

ABOUT THE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE OF THE SOUTH (CCS)
The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
