Scottie Softball Hits Road for CCS Matchups

Agnes Scott faces LaGrange and #9 Huntingdon in Weekend Clashes

DECATUR Ga. - This weekend, the Agnes Scott softball team travels to two Collegiate Conference of the South rivals, as the postseason picture continues to take shape for the CCS. On Saturday, the Scotties (6-20, 2-8 CCS) will travel to LaGrange (13-17, 3-5 CCS). On Sunday, they continue on the road with a doubleheader at the #9 team in the latest NFCA Division III Poll, Huntingdon (26-3, 9-1 CCS), who sit tied for 1st place in the conference standings alongside Piedmont.

A season ago, the Scotties and LaGrange split their head-to-head series, as the two teams finished 5th and 6th in the conference standings, respectively. With the addition of Asbury to the conference membership this season, the teams once again sit beside each other in the standings, with LaGrange currently in the important 6th and final playoff spot. Agnes Scott sits one spot behind in 7th.

Huntingdon has been on a tear this season, dropping only three contests so far, and all to nationally-ranked programs. They are coming off of a sweep of the Panthers on April 8, 2025, but will face off with co-leader Piedmont on Saturday in a doubleheader.

The Scotties found their way into the win column in conference play last weekend, as they swept past Wesleyan, 4-3 and 9-5. Offensively, the Scotties have been led this season at the plate by two of their pitching staff. Kyra Hornsby leads the team with a .386 batting average, placing her 17th in the CCS in that category. Bryn Greenwood has also been on fire at the plate this season, batting .362 (25th, CCS), while also leading the team with 18 RBIs (21st, CCS). Freshman standout Taylor Selby leads the team in stolen bases with 15, ranking her 4th in the CCS in steals.

On the mound, Greenwood leads the Scotties with 7 complete games (T-3rd, CCS), while also holding the best ERA amongst the pitching staff (6.13, 19th CCS). The team's three-person pitching staff have evenly split the Scotties' 6 wins, with Greenwood, Hornsby, and Amanda Barnes all picking up two victories on the season.
