DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott celebrated their graduating players today in their final series of the season, dropping two contests to #9 Huntingdon College. The Hawks (29-8, 13-3 Collegiate Conference of the South) once again featured alert base running and strong pitching, as they won Game 1, 10-2 and followed it with a no-hitter in Game 2, winning 9-0.
The Scotties held a ceremony for their graduating players. Seniors
Kyra Hornsby and
Kenzie Beaudoin, and early graduate
Jada Howard, played their final games as Scotties. Agnes Scott (3-17, 2-14 CCS) concludes their season with an eighth-place finish in the CCS, while Huntingdon will head to the CCS Tournament as the No. 2 seed behind conference-leading Belhaven University.
Hornsby, a senior from Alachua, Fla., has been a mainstay for the Scotties for four seasons. The pitcher/infielder took the team by surprise a year ago, when the then-junior led the team in batting average after not having batted for the Scotties in her first two seasons. For her efforts, Hornsby was named to the CCS First-Team All-Conference. She is the only athlete in any sport to be named to a first-team in the CCS. She finishes her career with a .286 career batting average, including her stellar junior campaign when she hit .333 for the season. On the mound, she won 7 contests for the Scotties over her career, and pitched 6 complete games. She also registered 91 strikeouts on the mound.
Beaudoin, a senior from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, has also been with the Scottie softball program for four seasons. The catcher and infielder has been a vocal leader on the field, being the lead communicator for the Scotties behind the plate. The power-hitter has also amassed an impressive .297 career batting average as a Scottie. Her sophomore year was her best statistical year at the plate, as she batted .367 with 12 RBIs. Through her four seasons, Kenzie has registered 4 home runs, 9 doubles, 37 RBIs, and scored 31 times.Â
Howard, a junior from Hampton, Ga., has played three seasons for the Scotties, alternating between the infield and outfield. For the last two seasons, she has been a regular starter for the Scotties. She retires with a career batting average of .238, including 3 doubles and 10 RBIs.
The Agnes Scott College athletics department extends their deepest thanks to these three athletes, who have dedicated themselves to the Scottie program and will be impossible to replace.
