Brailsford Nabs Rookie of the Week

First-Year Forward Registered Back-to-Back Double-Doubles

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 17, 2025) – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its Women's Basketball Players of the Week.  Ally Alford (Belhaven) was named Player of the Week, while Anissa Brailsford (Agnes Scott) earned Rookie of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Senior guard Ally Alford led Belhaven to a 2-0 week in conference play, averaging 18.0 points, 8.0 assists, and 6.5 steals per game. Alford was dominant against Huntingdon, scoring 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting while adding seven assists and an impressive 10 steals. She followed that with a 13-point, 9-assist performance against Asbury, snapping the Eagles' winning streak and extending Belhaven's own streak to seven games heading into the final week of the regular season.

Freshman forward Anissa Brailsford continued her standout season with the Scotties, averaging 11.0 points, 13.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game across three contests. She posted a double-double in a narrow loss to LaGrange, scoring 16 points and grabbing a season-high 17 rebounds. Brailsford followed with another dominant effort, recording 11 points and 15 rebounds in a 20-point victory over Wesleyan—her fourth double-double of the season.

The CCS is an NCAA Division III athletic conference that began play during the 2022-23 academic year. The conference features nine member institutions (Agnes Scott College, Asbury University, Belhaven University, Covenant College, Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Maryville College, Piedmont University, and Wesleyan College) and sponsors championships across 14 sports. In addition to sharing the member institutions' geographic identity, the name 'Collegiate Conference of the South' is indicative of a shared commitment to academic excellence, which is commensurate with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
