Box Score 2 The Scottie softball team dropped two games to Georgia Gwinnett College this afternoon 4-3, 8-0.
After three scoreless innings, Georgia Gwinnett got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. The Grizzlies Haley Thompson homered off the fence along the left side, they scored one more run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. The Scotties got all three of their runs in the fifth inning. First-year Alliyah Williams led off and was walked, junior Julia Blattner followed up with a single, junior Ashley Monsrud batted next and hit a single setting the Scotties up with bases loaded. Junior Tiffany Cain then drove home Williams and Blattner, good for two RBI's. The third run came from Alyssa Millikin on a fielder's choice bringing Monsrud home.
Williams pitched the first five inning and got her first loss of the season. She allowed seven hits, four runs, three walks and struck out one. First-year Holly Jones pitched two innings allowing three hits and striking out three.
In game two the Grizzlies slowly worked their way up to an eight run lead to end the game in the bottom of the sixth. Jones and Cain recorded hits for the Scotties along with first-year Kelsey Daigneau and junior Aimee McKibbin.
Sophomore Casey Arnold pitched four innings allowing three hits, three runs, one walk and striking out one. Junior Julia Blattner pitched the last two innings allowing five hits, five runs, three walks and striking out one.
With the losses, the Scotties' record falls to 5-5 while the Grizzlies improve to 7-2.
Agnes Scott will return to action this weekend at Emory University; they face Spalding University Saturday at 10 a.m. and Emory at noon and on Sunday they face Spalding again at noon.
Junior Tiffany Cain #12 went 2-4 against GGC.
