MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - This weekend, the track and field team of Agnes Scott continued their first season of competition with a trip to Berry University, taking part in the Berry Field Day Invitational. The meet featured several Collegiate Conference of the South schools, including the Scotties, Huntingdon, Piedmont, and Covenant.
On Friday,
Jane Scanlan-Emigh was the star of the day for the Scotties, running her best-ever time in the 1500m race, finishing in 5:33.75 and winning her heat of the event. The time placed her 4th out of 8 competitors from the CCS, and 19th out of 28 runners overall.Â
On Saturday, the Scotties were greeted by the debut of
Kaycie Hyde, fresh off of her first season as a member of the basketball team. Hyde ran in the sprint events for the Scotties, finishing with the top time of the season in the 100m and 200m races. In the 100m race, she clocked a team-best 13.74 seconds, followed closely by teammates
Kaia Middleton (14.62) and
Sadie McCallum (14.66). The mark for Middleton was a marked improvement, dropping 0.47 seconds off of her previous best of 15.09, established at the Emory Dooley Elite.
In the 200m race, Hyde was again the top finisher for the Scotties, narrowly edging out Middleton's team-best time from the previous week, running the half-lap in 30,93 seconds. Middleton finished next for the Scotties in 31.33, and McCallum ran the event for the first time this season, finishing in 32.25 seconds.Â
Lilybeth Sanchez had an outstanding race for the Scotties on Saturday, as she dropped a mind-blowing 12 seconds off of her best 800m time of the season, breaking the 3 minute mark for the first time and finishing second in her heat, crossing the line in 2:29.82.
In the shot put,
Sadie McCallum led the Scotties once again with a season's best performance, just as she has in all three meets this season. McCallum tossed the shot put 7.90m, adding a foot to her previous best of 7.62m from a week ago.
Kamryn Hill (6.50m) and
Madeleine Johnston (4.50m) were the other throwers in action for the Scotties. Johnston's mark was a season's best for her.
The Scotties will return to the track as they tavel to Charlotte, N.C. for the Johnson C Smith University Golden Bulls Invitational on Friday, April 17, 2026.
