Scottie Community Rocks Athletics Pep Rally

Thursday night event kicks off 2024-25 seasons

DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College community came out in droves on Thursday night, joining administration, coaches, and student athletes for the Fall Pep Rally at Woodruff Gymnasium. This event was a huge success, as over 200 members of the Scottie community came out to help the student athletes celebrate the beginning of another year of competition. The event was held the evening before the first home athletic contest of the academic year, as Agnes Scott soccer will host Salem College on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Gellerstedt Field.

Emceed by several of the coaches and administrators on hand, Athletic Director Dr. Kanika Richardson got the evening started by welcoming the crowds to the event, and introducing the members of her coaching staff and administration. The Scottie coaches then had the chance to introduce their student athletes to the Scottie community, as fans cheered on their classmates. Dr. Carolyn Cornelison got the crowd roaring with games and prizes, including a human version of Hungry Hungry Hippos, as well as a dance off and a performance by the Agnes Scott dance team.

The crowd included distinguished Agnes Scott faculty and staff, including Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Chicora Martin. The energy in the Woodruff Gymnasium was one of the most raucous in years, and energized the entire athletics staff and student athletes. The conclusion of the evening was the entire crowd being treated to a funnel cake food truck outside the event, as students were rewarded for their support with a late-night snack.

The Athletics Department wants to thank all of the folks who made this event such a smashing success, and hope to see everyone at home contests this year as the Scotties aim to represent their school in the most positive way possible.
