MARYVILLE, Tenn.—The Scots of Maryville College showed why they are a favorite in the USA South West Division in 2021 as they handled Agnes Scott from beginning to end on Friday night. The Scotties were unable to keep pace with a Maryville offense that totaled at least 24 points in each quarter and shot over 60 percent from the field.

The two sides will meet again at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon for the series finale.

Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was a bright spot once again for the Scotties. The junior guard has hit a groove over the last few games after a slow start against LaGrange on opening weekend. Sweat led the Scotties with 10 points and pushed her scoring average up to a team-high 8.3 points per game this season.

The Scots were dominate in the glass as well, as the Scotties were outrebounded for only the second time in seven games. Maryville led in the category by a wide margin, 58-27.

First-year guard Jordan Heifner led all scorers with 19 points in 18 minutes of action for Maryville.
