Rally Falls Short in Final Basketball Contest, 69-60

Hyde Scores 20 and McElroy Adds 15

DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott basketball team saw their season come to an end this evening at Woodruff Gymnasium, as the team fought valiantly against the playoff-bound Huntingdon Hawks (12-13, 9-7 Collegiate Conference of the South), falling by a score of 69-60.

The Scotties (2-22, 1-15 CCS) were in contention throughout the contest, even rallying from a 15-point deficit in the 4th quarter to bring the game within 5 points, before some clutch free throws down the stretch sealed the win for the Hawks. Kaycie Hyde led the Scotties with 20 points on the evening, as the freshman concluded her solid first season of collegiate basketball. She went 6-for-9 from the field, along with 8-for-9 from the fre throw line. She also added 6 rebounds. Sophomore Alex McElroy added 15 points, including 2 baskets from behind the arc. Graduate Student Damaris Gaines, playing in her final contest for the Scotties, finished with 9 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. Cybele Forbes, the CCS leader in blocked shots on the season, added 5 more in the contest, along with 10 rebounds and 6 points.

WIth Gaines being the only graduating player on the roster, the Scotties look forward to the future with a solid nucleus of talent from this season, and hope to build on their experience this season. The team showed tremendous growth throughout, as their last two contests were both tight matchups against the top team in the conference (2/17/26, @ LaGrange, L, 68-55), and tonight's 9-point loss to Huntingdon. For perspective, the conference season started for the Scotties against the Hawks on December 19, 2025, a game in which they lost, 78-43.
