Box Score DECATUR, Ga.—A dominant fourth quarter pushed visiting Brevard College to a 74-36 victory over Agnes Scott in the Scotties' season finale on Tuesday night at Woodruff Gymnasium.
The Scotties celebrated lone senior Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzibah, Ga.) before the game after two solid years with the program. Galoia will turn her attention to volleyball in a few short weeks.
Agnes Scott played the Tornados tough in the first quarter, even taking a lead late in the period after Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) knocked down a pair of deep balls in transition. However, Brevard was able to hit a triple of its own in the final minute of the first to take a 13-12 advantage.
The Tornados played their best ball in the even quarters, which included a 23-9 point benefit in the second. Destiny Williams was a catalyst in the fastbreak game for the Tornados, using her speed to break through the Agnes Scott defense after securing a few steals on inside passes.
Agnes Scott played the Tornados tight again in the third only to see Brevard claim a 24-4 advantage in the fourth to put a little distance on the final scoreboard.
Sweat and Williams tied for the game-high in points with 15. For Sweat it was a career-high mark, as the junior finished just two rebounds shy of her first collegiate double-double after sitting for most of the fourth frame.
Galoia continued to churn out impressive rebounding totals, finishing with 14 in her final collegiate appearance. She ended just a few total rebounds away from averaging 10 per game and remains in the top five in the conference in total rebounding.
