Lions Get by Scotties in Series Finale

Box Score

DECATUR, Ga.—Piedmont (11-3) closed out a season sweep of Agnes Scott with an 84-33 victory on Saturday afternoon at Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties will close out their 2020-21 campaign on Tuesday evening at home versus Brevard College.

Despite being down two players, Agnes Scott (0-13) fought through tired legs of a back-to-back and saw increased offensive production from several of its starters. Less than 24 hours after seeing no players break the double-digit mark in scoring, both Jasmine Thompson (Chicago, Ill.) and Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) got over the hurdle on Saturday. Thompson led the Scotties with 12 points, while Seat chipped in another 11.

First-year forward Erika McLeod (Snellville, Ga.) missed out on a double-double by a bucket, scoring eight and hauling in 13 rebounds.

Colby Reed was the top scorer of the afternoon for either side. The Piedmont sophomore scored 17 with much of it coming in the second half. Makayla Schymanski was efficient all afternoon for the Lions, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Piedmont held a slim 46-43 margin on the glass despite Agnes Scott being down leading rebounder Musumaulai Galoia.

Sweat added a career-high seven assists and a season-high seven rebounds to her ledger for the game.
