Basketball Topped by Lions in Conference Bout

Box Score

DEMOREST, Ga.—Agnes Scott women's basketball saved its best for last but it was not enough to keep up with USA South West Division-leading Piedmont College on Friday night. The two teams will meet again in Decatur on Saturday to wrap up the season series.

Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzibah, Ga.) continued her hot stretch on the glass, turning in 13 rebounds just one game after collecting 18 against Covenant College. Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Erika McLeod (Snellville, Ga.) paced a quiet offensive output for the Scotties with six points apiece.

Piedmont (10-3) showed why it was a preseason favorite in the USA South from the start, racing out to a 19-3 lead after one quarter and never looking in the rearview mirror. The Lions were led by Cara Crump, who totaled 16 points, seven steals, and four rebounds in 17 minutes of action. Bentley Cronic scored 14 off the bench for the Lions.

Agnes Scott (0-12) finishes off its season with two home games in four days. The Scotties host the Lions at 2 p.m. on Saturday before welcoming Brevard College to close out the season with a 6:30 p.m. start on Tuesday.
