Box Score DECATUR, Ga.—A steady effort carried Wesleyan College to a season sweep of Agnes Scott on Saturday afternoon at Woodruff Gymnasium.
The Scotties looked like they were going to carry their offensive momentum into the second half of a conference doubleheader with the Wolves when Chloe Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) hit a nice runner in the lane in the opening minute of the game. However, both teams struggled to find an offensive identity in the early going from that point with no points being added to the 2-0 total for nearly five minutes of action.
Wesleyan finally got on the scoreboard when Jasmine Williams netted a three to take the Wolves first lead of the game. They never trailed again.
The Wolves took a three-possession lead at 12-5 by the end of the first quarter and never let the Scotties get comfortable in the first half en route to a commanding 21-point advantage by halftime. Williams totaled 10 points in the first half, nearly outscoring the Scotties by herself.
Agnes Scott looked more comfortable in the half-court offense in the third quarter, but Wesleyan had just enough in each quarter to continue to add to its lead.
Shay Sweat (Lawrenceville, Ga.) led the Scotties with nine points and five steals. Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzibah, Ga.) finished a bucket away from a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds.
Wesleyan's Kelsey Houpt was quiet on Friday night but erupted for a game-high 17 points on an effective 7-for-12 from the field. Jamila Ra-Hashim finished off a successful first weekend with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Agnes Scott heads to Maryville on Friday for the start of a two-day USA South doubleheader.
