Scotties Fall to Bobcats in 2020 Opener

Box Score

DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott dropped its final non-conference matchup of the season with a 70-36 result at home versus Bates College. Three Scotties ended the contest in double-figure scoring, but the home side could not overcome a season-high 38 turnovers in the end.

Bates gets over the .500 mark at 6-5, while Agnes Scott drops to 0-12 on the season.

The Scotties got off to a fast start with back-to-back buckets from senior Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.), but the Bobcats were eventually able to slow down the Scotties with their full-court press. Bates took a 13-8 lead by the end of the first period and used a 20-point run spanning the second and third quarters to break the game wide open.

Agnes Scott saw its scoring uptick in the fourth quarter as seniors Kamiyla Lane (Atlanta, Ga.) and Annie Weimerskirch (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) each picked up the slack with tough buckets in the final period.

However, it was Bates' bench effort that carried the Bobcats to the big victory, scoring 39 of the team's 70 points in the contest.

Bates' Ariana Dalia led all players with 13 points in the game.

Thirty-two of Agnes Scott's 36 points came from its three seniors. Weimerskirch and Grant led the way with 11 points each.

Agnes Scott is back in action on Wednesday at Brevard.
