Box Score DECATUR, Ga.—A fast start was just what Piedmont women's basketball needed to hand Agnes Scott College a 73-35 defeat on Friday evening at the Woodruff Gymnasium. Senior Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) surpassed 200 blocks for a career in the first quarter and junior Musumaulai Galoia (Hephzebah, Ga.) collected a career-high 12 rebounds to highlight the Scottie effort.
Addison Harrison (Ellenwood, Ga.), Emma Olson (Austin, Texas) and Grant all scored eight points to lead Agnes' offense.
Piedmont was hitting shots early and often in the first quarter, jumping out to a 16-0 lead. The Lions held the Scotties to only two points on a Grant jumper in the period and it set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Scotties picked it up on offense in the second quarter and found their stroke from deep late, but could not overcome a sizable disadvantage in the second half.
Piedmont first-year Nakiyah Washington scored a game-high 10 points in just 10 minutes of action. Fourteen different Lions scored in the contest.
Grant became the 25th active women's basketball player to cross the 200-block plateau for the career across all divisions. She is now seventh in NCAA Division III with 203.
The Scotties (0-16, 0-7 USA South) remain at home on Saturday when they host Covenant College at 3 p.m. in Woodruff.
