Grant's Big Night Not Enough in Loss to Hawks

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Huntingdon's first-quarter burst carried the Hawks to a season sweep of Agnes Scott, besting the Scotties 82-45 on Tuesday night. Agnes Scott senior Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) notched season highs in points (22) and field goal percentage (56%), but the Scotties were unable to overcome a tough start to the game.

Huntingdon improves to 6-1 in USA South play with the victory while the Scotties continue to search for their first win at 0-6.

The Hawks jumped to a fast start, outscoring the Scotties 29-8 over the first 10 minutes to gain control. Agnes Scott fought back with a 12-8 advantage in the second quarter, but Huntingdon's offensive depth wore the Scotties thin in the second half and the Hawks were able to extend their lead out to a comfortable margin.

Grant secured her fifth double-double of the season and second against the Hawks. The senior forward finished with 10 rebounds.

The Scotties outrebounded Huntingdon 38-28 for the game and shot above 40-percent from the floor for the first time to date.

Agnes Scott's January gauntlet of games continues this weekend when they host Piedmont and Covenant for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader.
