Scotties Stuff Wolves on Senior Day, 66-6

Box Score

DECATUR, Ga.—There was plenty to celebrate on Saturday afternoon for Agnes Scott Basketball as they cruised by visiting Wesleyan 66-6 at a packed Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties hosted Senior Day and their annual Play4Kay game while giving the home crowd a show in the 2018-19 season finale.

Agnes Scott honored Zoey Perchaluk (Fort Erie, Ont.) and Ashlyn Edwards (Stone Mountain, Ga.) before the game. The two set or tied career highs in points as they combined for 14 points, 11 rebounds and four steals against the Wolves.

The Scotties improved to a perfect 2-0 against their rivals this season after beating the Wolves in Macon 88-22 in January. With both teams missing key players on Saturday, it lent itself to a lower scoring affair.

Agnes Scott scored the first 10 points of the game and was never threatened by the visitors after that spurt. Wesleyan was only able to muster three made buckets in the game, one in each of the first three quarters, while being shut out by the Scotties in the final quarter.

The Scotties were able to be patient on offense against the packed in Wesleyan zone, waiting for the opportune open shot. Agnes Scott was able to get in a rhythm in spurts, but not from cover-to-cover as the Scotties only shot 33.3 percent from the floor.

Still, several Scotties were able to good numbers with first-year Emma Olson (Austin, Texas) leading the way with 16 points, nine rebounds and five steals in 25 minutes. Kamiyla Lane (Atlanta, Ga.) had a season high 15 rebounds, while Kalin Smith (Kiln, Miss.) turn in eight points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals in limited minutes. Deja White (Loganville, Ga.) finished second on the team with nine points.

The Scotties close out the season at 2-23 with a 2-14 mark in the USA South. Wesleyan finishes at 0-25 and 0-16 respectively.

Agnes Scott broke the program record for least points allowed in a game, shattering the previous best which came in an 81-21 win over Fisk in January 2006. The Scotties also shattered the program record for rebounds in a regulation game with 70. Their previous high this season was 55 in the road trip game to Wesleyan.
