DEMOREST, Ga.—Piedmont College Softball handed Agnes Scott a pair of non-conference losses on Thursday afternoon at the Walker Athletic Complex. The Lions jumped on the Scotties with a 10-0 win in game one before finishing up with an 11-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Scotties see their ledger fall to 2-4, while Piedmont shakes off a tough opening weekend to move up to the same mark.

Agnes Scott fell into the path of a team on a mission on Thursday as the Scotties were outhit 23-5 between the two contests. Piedmont scored a majority of their runs in the middle innings of both contests.

Things were looking fine for the Scotties in game one, trailing 2-0 at the halfway point. However, a pair of defensive miscues led to Piedmont putting eight runs on the scoreboard and ending the game after the next half inning. USA South Rookie of the Week, Caitlin Weaver (Jacksonville, Fla.) was tagged for her first loss of the season, although only two of the runs she surrendered on the day were earned.

Melissa Eckman picked up the win for the Lions in the first game.

Four different Scotties came up with a hit in a game two loss, but errors once again reared their head to hurt the visitors. Piedmont scored six runs in the second and five more in the bottom of the third to put the Scotties in a deep hole from which they couldn't dig.

Agnes Scott returns home this weekend to play two against Ferrum on Saturday beginning at noon.
