MARYVILLE, Tenn. - For the second series in a row, Agnes Scott College faced off with one of the top teams in the USA South, falling in two games to Maryville College by scores of 13-4 and 9-0.  Both games were decided in five innings, as the Scotties (4-18) failed to find their offensive rhythm against the Scots (19-15).

In Game 1, the Scots tagged starter Casey Arnold for 10 runs, 7 of them earned, in the first 1.2 innings of work.  Reliever Kayla Quesenberry fared better, going 2.1 innings and scattering 6 hits while striking out 2 and allowing 3 earned runs.  Offensively, Alex Garcia led the way with a 2 RBI double in the 4th inning, in which the Scotties scored all of their runs.  Nicole Gilkeson also had an RBI single to open the scoring, as she plated Arnold.

In Game 2, Maryville starting pitched Morgan Corland held the Scotties' offense at bay, allowing only 3 hits in 5 innings of work for a complete game shutout.  Molly Baker suffered the loss on the mound for the Scotties, going 2.1 innings with 6 earned runs, 6 walks, and 4 hits.

The Scotties open Great South Athletic Conference play on Saturday, April 10, as they host the defending GSAC Tournament Champions, Salem College.  The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
