LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Agnes Scott College's bats came alive last evening in a doubleheader with Covenant College, as the Scotties roared to a 12-4 in the first game, before being outslugged in Game 2, 10-6.  The 18 runs by the Scotties was far above their season average entering the game (2.75 runs per game).  It was the second time this season that the two teams have split.

In Game 1, Molly Baker pitched another solid game for the Scotties (6-24), pitching 6.2 innings and allowing only 2 hits, 0 earned runs, and fanning 5 batters.  On the offensive side, DeAnna Fulton, Kayla Trumbull and Jordan Josey all collected three hits, while Fulton, Trumbull and Jessica Costero had 3 RBIs apiece, as well.  Fulton was a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle, collecting a single, double and triple in the contest.

In Game 2, Miranda Moore got her first start on the mound for the Scotties, and pitched admirably, but the Scotties committed 4 errors in the game, allowing 6 unearned runs in the contest.  Moore would go 2.1 innings, allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs.  Nicole Gilkeson came on in relief and went 1.2 innings without allowing a run and only giving up one hit.

The second game was called after five innings due to darkness, but the Scotties scored 6 runs in the game, aided by a 2-run home run by Jordyn Portis that brought home Christina Keyes.  Portis would finish the game with two hits, as would Fulton.  Portis and Kristin Root each finished with 2 RBIs.

The Scotties will look to celebrate their lone senior, Casey Arnold, on Friday, April 22 as they take on Wesleyan College (Ga.) in a Great South Athletic Conference doubleheader.  Current weather conditions may mean that the game is postponed, and details will be made available regarding that contest as soon as they are available on Friday morning.
