DECATUR, Ga. - For the second time in as many days, the Agnes Scott College tennis team went 2-1 in doubles before dominating the singles action, as they took out Columbia College, 8-1, for their first win against the Koalas (1-4) since the 2013 season. All six starters for the Scotties (2-0) won their singles matches in straight sets.
"It was a good effort from the team this evening," commented head coach T.J. Greggs, "and while we still have some work to do in doubles, I felt like we played solidly in all six singles matches."
In the doubles, the Scotties picked up wins at the #2 and #3 spots by identical 8-1 scorelines. Nikki Langford and Camille Wilson were victorious at #2, while Magdalena Wimmler and Anastasia Bennett picked up the win at #3 for the second consecutive match.
In singles, Langford quickly dispatched of Miranda Brown, 6-2, 6-0, to put the Scotties up, 3-1. Sophomore Maddie Hoffman picked up her second win at the #1 spot, seeing off Caitlyn Wolf, 6-0, 6-2, and Bennett made the match official with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Mary Curtis Twitty. Wimmler, Taylor Lee, and Wilson finished their matches in that order for the final 8-1 win.
The Scotties will have two weeks to prepare for Covenant College, as they travel to their future USA South opponent on February 26.
