MACON, Ga. - In the Great South Athletic Conference opener for both teams, Casey Arnold shut out the Wesleyan Wolves (4-10) in the second game of a double header, and the Agnes Scott College Scotties (2-10, 1-1 GSAC) split with the Wolves, dropping the first game, 3-2, in extra innings, before rebounding for an 8-0 shutout.

In Game 1, both teams struggled from the plate, as each team had only 1 run and 4 hits after the regulation 7 innings.  With the game locked at 1-1 after 8 innings, the Scotties plated a run in the top of the ninth inning when Aimee Jennings hit a one-out solo home run off of Wesleyan starting pitcher Melissa Webb (2-5), giving the Scotties the one-run lead.  However, Wesleyan would strike back in the bottom of the inning, as Scottie starting pitcher Holly Jones would allow Jema Bravo to score on a wild pitch to even the score, before a Scottie error would bring home the game-winning run with two outs.  Jones (1-3) would take the loss after throwing 8 2/3 innings, allowing only 6 hits and two earned runs.

In game 2, the Scotties would find their rhythm both from the mound and from the plate, as Arnold (1-4) picked up her first win of the season, going 6 innings and allowing only 5 hits, while striking out 4.  Offensively, the Scotties would get to Wesleyan starter, Valerie Clower (2-5), in the second inning, plating 6 runs on 6 hits, aided by two errors by the Wolves.  They would tack on 2 more runs in the 6th inning, leading to the final 8-0 score.  Jennings would finish the second game 3 for 4 from the plate, including 3 RBIs.  Arnold aided her own cause by going a perfect 3 for 3 from the plate, and First-Years Alex Garcia and Molly Baker would each add two hits to the cause.  In all, the Scotties would hit for a season-high 14 hits in the second game.

The Scotties will have one day off before returning to their home field at Oakhurst Park on Sunday, as they take on Rust College at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
