The Agnes Scott softball team fell 5-1 to the No. 15-ranked Emory Eagles this afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championships. 

Emory scored four runs in the second and another in the fifth while holding the Scotties to just one run in the fourth. Junior Ashley Monsrud scored the run with an RBI from first-year Alliyah Williams. Monsrud had two hits with a double.  Juniors Aimee McKibbin and Tiffany Cain each had one hit for the Scotties.  On the mound, first-year Holly Jones pitched six innings allowing eight hits, five runs, one walk and struck out one.

With the loss, Agnes Scott will head to the elimination game against Lynchburg Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Emory will head to the winner's bracket against No. 14 Piedmont College at 11:00 a.m.
