Box Score 2 The Agnes Scott softball team defeated Wesleyan College this afternoon in a doubleheader. The Scotties won 16-0 and 9-1.
The Scotties started off the bottom of the first with two runs. Sophomore Casey Arnold singled and brought in two RBI's with runs by juniors Julia Blattner and Aimee McKibbin. Agnes Scott scored four hits in the second and third innings. The Scotties broke open the fourth inning with six runs starting off with a double down the left side by first-year Kelsey Daigneau. First-year Holly Jones hit a double earning an RBI. First-year Miranda Gammon singled followed by a single from McKibbin. Junior Alyssa Millikin singled earning an RBI as Gammon rounded home plate. Junior Ashley Monsrud closed out the scoring run with a triple and two RBIs.
The Scotties held the wolves to just three hits the entire game. On the mound, sophomore Casey Arnold got her third win of the season. Over three innings, she allowed one hit, zero runs and struck out three. First-year Holly Jones closed out the last two innings allowing two hits, zero runs and striking out three.
Game two started slower with no runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the second, Monsrud scored on a hit from junior Kat Riale. The Scotties scored one run in the third and two more in the fourth. Wesleyan got on the scoreboard with one run in the fifth but Agnes Scott batted in five runs in the bottom of the fifth putting the run rule into effect to end the game 9-1.
On the mound in game two, Blattner earned her fifth win of the season allowing two hits, one walk and striking out three.
Over the two games, Jones, Blattner and Monsrud batted .667. Jones hit 4-of-6 including two doubles and three RBIs. Blattner also went 4-for-6 with a double and four RBIs. And Monsurd went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Millikin batted .625 with 5-of-8 and one RBI. McKibbin and Daigneau both hit the .500 mark. McKibbin was 4-for-8 and had one double and three RBIs. Daigneau hit 3-of-6 including two doubles.
The Scotties will return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader against Hendrix College starting at 5 p.m.
#14 Julia Blattner earned her fifth win of the season allowing two hits, one walk and striking out three. She also hit .667, going 4-for-6 with a double and four RBIs.
