The Agnes Scott lacrosse team honored three senior team members during their last home game earlier this month. These three student-athletes have made significant contributions to the team and to the college and will be missed next year.
Senior student-athlete Rachelle Pierre joined the team as a first-year, earning a starting position in all contests and contributing 5 goals, 35 groundballs, and 46 draw controls. After taking her sophomore and junior years to pursue other interests, Rachelle rejoined the team for her senior year and earned a starting position. She scored two goals and won seven draw controls in the just the first four games of the current season. Rachelle holds leadership positions in multiple honor societies on campus, is a member of student Senate and has been on the Dean's List since first-year. Upon graduation, Rachelle will be pursuing her master's degree in Speech Pathology at the University of Georgia.
Senior student-athlete Brittany Starr joined the team as a first-year, earning a starting position in 15 contests and contributing 5 goals, 18 groundballs, and three draw controls. During her sophomore season, she contributed two groundballs before suffering a season ending concussion. Rallying for her junior season, Brittany contributed two goals and two ground balls before having her season cut short again by a concussion. Brittany would not let concussions keep her from being a part of the Scottie Lacrosse family. She has been at practices and games supporting her teammates in every way possible as team manager. Brittany also holds leadership positions in FCA and the student recruiting office. Brittany also spent a semester in Guatemala providing humanitarian aid and aspires to continue that work in the future. After graduation, Brittany will be moving to Ft. Walton Beach to begin her life as a newly-wed with her husband Brad.
Senior student-athlete Caroline Recio joined the team as a sophomore, earning a starting position in all 13 contests and contributing 10 groundballs and two points that season. During Caroline's junior season, she racked up 20 goals, 7 assists, and 17 groundballs. In the first four games of the current season, she has contributed 3 goals and 9 draw controls. Caroline was also a member of the Agnes Scott basketball team for two years. After graduation Caroline will be the first female to commission as a combat arms and field artillery officer from the Georgia Tech ROTC program. She will be stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma as a 2nd Lieutenant.
