The Agnes Scott tennis team opened their season today with a home match against Columbia College.
Under a beautiful, sunny sky with temperatures in the upper 50s, the Scotties got off to a 2-1 start, winning at number one and number two doubles. In singles, senior Mariel Herrera won at number one 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (8) and junior Claire Rinaldo won in the number two spot, 6-0, 6-2. Columbia edged out Agnes Scott at the three, four, five and six spots to win the match 5-4.
"I'm very pleased with the way we handled ourselves today. Columbia is a very solid team and we did a great job of competing. We had four first-year players starting today, so some nerves are to be expected" remarked first year head coach T.J. Greggs.
