Box Score The Agnes Scott basketball team concluded their regular season with a 54-41 win over Wesleyan College this afternoon. Prior to the game, the Scotties celebrated their two seniors, Janell McKinney and Morgan Cooper. Both student-athletes are four year team members and have played key roles on the team.
Agnes Scott led by 11 at half-time, 33-22. The Wolves gained some ground in the second half scoring 19 more points to the Scotties' 21 but the Scotties held on for the win, 54-41.
Junior Shavonne Orr led the Scotties with 18 points including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. She also grabbed three rebounds and three assists. Senior Morgan Cooper got her fourth double-double of the season, after missing the first half of the season due to studying abroad, with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Cooper also had one assist and two steals. First-year Care Bacon added 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists. Sophomore Breonca Hackney added seven points and five rebounds and senior Janell McKinney rounded out the starters with six points, one steal and four rebounds.
Overall, the Scotties shot 41.7% from the floor and 72% from the free throw line.
The Scotties will travel to Trinity Washington D.C. next weekend for the Great South Athletic Conference basketball championship. Check our website later this week for the full brackets.
