Box Score 2 The Agnes Scott softball team defeated the Scots of Maryville College in a double-header this afternoon at Oakhurst Park in Decatur. The Scotties won game one 7-1 and game two, 1-0.
In game one, several Scotties made contact with the ball with hits from Kat Riale, Casey Arnold, Alliyah Williams, Tiffany Cain, Ashley Monsrud, Alyssa Millikin, Julia Blattner and Aimee McKibbin. Williams batted in three RBI's, Riale got two and Cain and Monsrud each batted in one RBI apiece. On the mound, Williams got her second win of the season allowing three hits, one run, three walks and striking out three.
Game two went scoreless for 6.5 innings. Leading off in the bottom of the seventh, first-year Miranda Gammon reached base on an error. Millikin entered as a pinch runner. McKibbin hit a single. Blattner hit for Megan Snipes and singled to left field for an RBI and the win.
On the mound, first-year Holly Jones pitched the first six innings allowing only three hits and striking out three. Casey Arnold pitched the final inning, with three batters faced, she allowed zero hits, zero runs and zero walks.
"We felt good today. Having four games behind us, we have learned what to work on individually and as a team" remarkedHead Coach Talya DiGirolamo. "We've been working on intensity and smarter approaches to our at bats. There was a lot of improvement in all areas, per player and the team as a whole.This team is the tightest team I've been able to coach here at Agnes Scott. They encourage and push each other. I'm excited of where we're heading."
Over the two games, Blattner went 2-for-2 and batted in one RBI. McKibbin averaged .667 going 4-for-6. Riale batted .571 hitting 4-of-7 and earning two RBI's. Monsrud batted an even .500 going 3-for-6 and batting in one RBI; she also led in total bases with five. On the field, the Scotties had a great game with zero errors.
#14 Julia Blattner batted in an RBI in a 1-0 win in game two. #23 Aimee McKibbin batted .667 over the two games.
#4 Ashley Monsrud batted an even .500 over the two games. Catcher Kat Riale, #1, earned two RBI's and a .571 batting average.
