The Agnes Scott College lacrosse team opened up its season today with a 14-7 loss to Hendrix College.  

The Scotties got off to a good start with a goal by senior Caroline Recio. The teams tied at 3-3 before Hendrix pulled away for a half-time score of 7-4. Agnes Scott drew first blood in the second half with a goal from Sumayyah Cooper followed by a goal from senior Rachelle Pierre with an assist from sophomore Hallie Bates. Hendrix slowly pulled away over the last 15 minutes for a final score of 14-7. 

Pierre scored a total of two goals, sophomore Monique Novoa added two, Recio, Cooper and Nastacia Pereira each added one goal for the Scotties. Recio and Pereira led the draw controls with four and three respectively. Sophomore goalie Ashley Holder played 60 minutes in goal and recorded 15 saves.

Hendrix had the advantage on draw controls 12-11 and ground ball pick ups 14-10. 

The Scotties will return to action on Wednesday February 26 as they face Piedmont College at home at 4 p.m. Admission is free so come out and support the Scotties!
