Basketball Loses to Wesleyan

The Agnes Scott basketball team lost to Wesleyan College this afternoon in Macon, 67-49.

The Scotties led 26-15 with 5:03 left in the first half, but a17-0 run by Wesleyan over the next 6:20 put the Wolves up 32-26 with 18:53 left in the game. The Wolves capitalized on steals and turnovers to clinch the win.

 First-year Care Bacon led the Scotties with 15 points making 6-of-13 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the charity line. Sophomore Breonca Hackney added 15 points from the bench. Senior Morgan Cooper led with nine rebounds and 11 points. Wesleyan senior Kelly Bacon led the Wolves' offense with 25 points including 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Senior Nevia Lewis and sophomore Jasmine Davis rounded out Wesleyan's top scorers with 19 and 16 points respectively.

Neither team did well from the three-point line with only two goals total from the arc. Wesleyan outshot Agnes Scott 41.4% to 36.4% and led in steals 19 to 7. With the loss, the Scotties fall to 0-11 and Wesleyan improves to 2-11.

The Scotties will return to action on Wednesday at Point University at 5:30 p.m. The next home game will be Saturday the 25th against Bennet at 2 p.m. Admission to all home games is free. Come out and cheer for the Scotties!
