Box Score 2 The Agnes Scott softball team lost a doubleheader to Huntingdon College today at home, 2-1 and 11-3. The Scotties are now 8-7 overall and 4-3 in conference.
In game one, Huntingdon led 2-0 at the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, first-year Casey Arnold scored on a double from sophomore Aimee McKibbin. Neither team scored in the remaining innings for a final score of 2-1. Huntingdon outhit Agnes Scott 9-5. On the mound, Julia Blattner pitched seven innings and allowed nine hits, two runs, and one walk.
In game two, Agnes Scott was up 1-0 in the bottom of the third. Huntingdon had a six run streak in the fourth followed by two more runs for the Scotties. Agnes Scott did not score again while the Hawks picked up five more runs for a final score of 11-3. The Hawks outhit the Scotties 17-6. Sophomore Megan Snipes went 2-for-3 this two hits; she also scored one run and one RBI. On the mound Tiffany Cain led off allowing nine hits, five runs and striking out one in 3.1 innings. Julia Blattner returned for 2.2 innings and allowed five hits and two runs. Casey Arnold pitched the final inning allowing three hits, four runs and striking out one.
Agnes Scott will return to action on Monday at Wesleyan College in Macon and will return home on Wednesday April 10 to face LaGrange College at 6 and 8 p.m.
