The Agnes Scott College basketball team lost to the Lions of Piedmont College, 69-47, this afternoon in their 2013-14 home opener. 

The Lions got off to an early start leading 14-0 in the first eight minutes. The Scotties were able to close the gap to 21-25 before Piedmont pulled away again to close the half with a 10 point lead. Piedmont maintained that lead throughout the second half.

First-year Care Bacon came off the bench to lead the Scotties with a season high of 15 points, three steals and three assists. Junior Shavonne Orr added 13 points including nine from the three-point arc. Sophomore Breonca Hackney recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kelcie Evans grabbed 11 rebounds.

Piedmont outshot the Scotties 37.3% to 30%. The teams were evenly matched on rebounds 39-39. Piedmont had the advantage on steals, 18-7.

The Scotties will return to action on Saturday at home as they face Pensacola Christian College at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
