Box Score 2 The Agnes Scott softball team defeated Salem College in both games of a double header today at Oakhurst Park. The Scotties won 4-2 and 10-0.
Senior Chelsea Kremer pitched seven innings in the first game allowing nine hits, two runs and one walk while striking out four out of 30 batters faced.
Junior Ashley Berger pitched the second game which ended after five innings. Berger allowed four hits, zero runs, one walk and struck-out four batters out of 21 faced.
Seniors Chelsea Kremer and Laura Schaeffer were recognized prior to today's game. Kremer has been one of Agnes Scott's starting pitchers for the past four years and Schaeffer has been one of the Scotties' starting catcher's for the past four years. Both players have shown a strong work ethic, high level of commitment and good attitude in their four years at Agnes Scott. Schaeffer will be continuing her education at Ga Tech where she will pursue a Ph.D. in psychology and engineering.
Although it was senior day, Agnes Scott's juniors had an impressive showing. Juniors Avi Greene, Melanie Ennis and Shivani Ghodadra had strong games both fielding and batting. Greene had two hits, including one triple; she earned two runs and was credited with one stolen base and three RBI's. The second baseman also made several key plays on the field. Ennis earned four runs and three hits for the day, including one double. She was also credited with two stolen bases. Ghodadra had four hits, one run and three RBI's.
The Scotties will return to action this Wednesday against top conference team Huntingdon College at Oakhurst Park at 5 p.m.
