DECATUR, Ga.—Trestin Artkhaxa (Stockbridge, Ga.) recorded Agnes Scott's lone win of the day on Sunday, a 6-3, 6-4 result at the top singles flight as the Scotties concluded their home schedule with a 6-1 loss to LaGrange. The Scotties celebrated seniors Jacy Pippin (Atlanta, Ga.) and Rebecca Flores-Hernandez (Chicago, Ill.) for their contributions to the program before the match.
Artkhaxa has been playing her best tennis of the season entering the home stretch for the Scotties. After going 2-0 last weekend against Berea, the first-year standout added another impressive win to her tally with a straight-set win over Nicole Phillips. The win marked the first over Phillips by a Scottie during the LaGrange senior's four seasons.
The Panthers roared to a 2-0 lead in doubles action with an 8-0 win at the first flight and an 8-2 result at the two.
Sydney Tyler and Hannah Miller brought the visitors within a point of securing the overall match victory before Makayla Red closed things out with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Flores-Hernandez at the fourth spot.
Pippin hung with Madison Kady at line two, but Kady ultimately outlasted the Agnes senior 6-3, 6-1.
The Scotties head to Brevard next Saturday to close out their 2021 season.
