Box Score DECATUR, Ga. – The Agnes Scott College women's soccer team was shutout by Piedmont University, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Gellerstedt Field to close out the regular season. With the loss, the Scotties now finish the season with a (0-13-2, 0-7-1 USA South) record, while the Lions improve to 11-3-3.
Junior net-minder Victoria Cruz spent 90 minutes in goal for the Scotties and made 16 saves. Piedmont outshot Agnes Scott, 29-9, and tallied 14 corner kicks.
Megan Selecky and Peighton Freeman took six and two of shots for the Scotties apiece. Junior Ashley Kopczyk had one shot.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick by Gabbie Hayes after a Scottie foul. The Scotties stepped up on defense to keep Piedmont only adding one goal by Victoria Sierra to take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Minutes into the second half the Lions added a tally thanks to a goal by Abby Ryan.
Piedmont scored its final goal when Mandy Weinhart found the net on an assist by Kaylee King to close out the contest.
