NORFOLK, Va. - Agnes Scott soccer scored their second goal of the young season on Friday evening, but Regent University capitalized on their scoring chances to pull out the 4-1 win, with all 5 goals coming in the first half.
The Royals (2-3) started off the scoring early as freshman Lauren Pond found the back of the net less than five minutes into regulation. The Scotties would answer in the 11th minute, however, as
Laura Damonte found
Jillian Rodriguez open and fed her the ball. The first-year forward drove the ball past the Regent goalkeeper to get things level at 1-1. Pond would add goals in the 31st and 35th minutes, and teammate Victoria Hoffman would tack on another in the 43rd to give the Royals the 4-1 lead. The Scotties had a chance to gain a goal back in the closing minutes, but the shot from
Mahdi Walker was stopped by Regent's Evie Munroe.Â
The second half saw both teams struggle to find offense, as only one shot on goal was recorded in the half. Scottie goalkeeper
Olivia Rosario would finish with four saves, while Munroe picked up the win in goal with the lone save on Walker's shot.
Agnes Scott (0-4) will return to the pitch in Virginia as they face off with Sweet Briar (0-2-2) in a Sunday contest. The two teams have only faced off once before, a 4-1 win for the Scotties at home in the 2023 season. Both teams will be looking for their first win in the 1:00 p.m. match. Live video is available
