BREVARD, N.C.—Spurred on by stellar efforts across the board, Agnes Scott Tennis swept the season series with Brevard College by handing the Tornados a 7-2 loss on Tuesday afternoon.
Three days since their first matchup did not change much as the Scotties quickly took a 4-0 advantage through four singles' courts. Lizzy Engsberg (Atlanta, Ga.) switched down to the two spot to get a different look and took down Jen Cox 6-1, 6-0 for the first point of the day. Senior Anastasia Bennett (Marietta, Ga.) followed along with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Margaret Correll at the third flight.
Jasmine Keiler (Newnan, Ga.) and Camille Wilson (Cincinnati, Ohio) also flipped in the lineup, but it did not matter as both won matches in straight sets at the fourth and fifth flights respectively.
Brevard got two points back when Hannah Spear outlasted Jacy Pippin (Atlanta, Ga.) 7-5, 7-5 at sixth singles, while Kelsey Kushner held off Taylor Lee (Alpharetta, Ga.) 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 at the first rung.
The match was still in play for either side entering doubles, but Bennett and Wilson quickly dispelled any idea of a comeback with an 8-2 victory at second doubles.
Felicia Jacques (Atlanta, Ga.) and Keiler took care of business at third doubles, 8-1, before Lee and Engsberg finished off their opponents 8-4 at one.
Agnes Scott will enter its second conference match of the season on Thursday riding a two-match win streak. USA South West Division favorite Covenant (5-5) comes to town for a 3:30 p.m. match.
