Box Score MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Continuing a season that has seen them face off with 5 different USA South opponents, Agnes Scott College took on the defending champions today on the road, falling in a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Maryville College. The Scots (3-1) scored three goals in the middle twenty minutes of the game to put the contest out of reach.
For the game, the Scots outshot the Scotties, 25-8. Scottie goalkeeper Sydney Holstad made 12 saves on the contest. In opposition, the Scotties were only able to manage three shots on goal, but First-Year Zoey Perchaluk was able to find the back of the net in the 74th minute on an unassisted strike to put the Scotties on the board.
With the loss, Agnes Scott drops to 3-3 on the season, having gone 2-3 against the USA South so far this season. The Scotties will face three more future conference foes, as they take on current GSAC rivals Salem and Wesleyan later in the season, as well as current USA South member, LaGrange College. Agnes Scott, Wesleyan and Salem are all set to join the USA South in the fall of 2016.
The Scotties will return to their home pitch on Saturday, September 19, as they face off with Sewanee at 2:00 p.m.
