MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Agnes Scott College played 107 scoreless minutes on the road against future USA South Conference foe, Huntingdon College (1-2), before senior Camila Hernandez (pictured) scored the game's only goal, leading the Scotties (2-2) to the victory over the Hawks.
"We had a lot of opportunities in regulation to close this one out," indicated head coach Rosemary Davis, "and this was a real gut-check for our team. I am proud of the way the team handled themselves in picking up the win."
During regulation, the Scotties outshot the Hawks, 11-5, but couldn't find the back of the net. Several players had multiple shots for the contest, including 3 from First-Year Emily Duncan, two of which were on target, and 3 from sophomore Sarah Fisher, one of which was a shot on goal.
In the second overtime, First-Year Zoey Perchaluk dribbled along the end line, then served a cross on the ground that split two Hawk defenders, finding Hernandez for the game-winner as she drove it into the back of the net and set off the celebrations for the Scotties.
Sydney Holstad picked up her second shutout win of the season in goal for the Scotties, making 6 saves on the contest. It is the second year in a row she has notched a shutout against the Hawks, as the Scotties prevailed, 2-0, last season.
The Scotties will return to the comforts of their home pitch tomorrow afternoon, as they face off with another future USA South opponent, Covenant College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and admission to the contest is free.
