Box Score MACON, Ga. - Fighting through heavy rains and a defensive-minded opponent, the Agnes Scott College soccer team finally scored the game-winning goal against Wesleyan College (2-5-1, 0-1 Great South Athletic Conference) to open their GSAC schedule, taking down the Wolves, 1-0, on a goal by Zoey Perchaluk in the 76th minute.
"I am happy with the way we persevered today," indicated head coach Rosemary Davis, "and while I am happy with the win, we need to do better in the future of capitalizing on our opportunities to score."
The teams played scoreless through 75 minutes, as the Scotties outshot the Wolves, 28-4. However, it would not be until Perchaluk's goal that the score finally reflected the Scotties' dominance in the game. Wesleyan goalkeeper Centara Nulf lodged 11 saves on the day, preventing several solid shots from the Scotties (4-7, 1-0 GSAC) from finding the back of the net. Perchaluk now leads the Scotties for the season, with 4 goals and 10 points.
The Scotties will return to action on Saturday, October 10, as they face off with Salem College, the defending GSAC Champions. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m. and admission to all home events is free to the public.
