Box Score 2 The Agnes Scott volleyball team finished up the weekend at the Greensboro tournament with a 0-3 loss to Guilford (17-25, 24-26, 16-25) followed by a 0-3 loss to William Peace (14-25, 22-25, 10-25). Junior Lauren Aikens was named to the All-Tournament team.
"We played very well overall, improving with every match. Our level of play has improved tremendously this last tournament alone, with comments from our officials and other coaches that we are a stronger team this year. We are fighting to win by starting off stronger, but still need to work on finishing a match, which will be one of our goals for the remainder of the season" said head coach Catherine Geerlings.
Sophomore Natali Rendon led the Scotties in kills with 13 for the day. Senior Morgan Bender added in 12. First-year Kayleigh McCrary led the team with 20 assists. Junior Shelli Sherman accumulated 27 digs over the two matches.
Over the four game tournament, Rendon racked up 24 kills, five service aces and 41 digs. Bender had 22 kills and Aikens added 19. Aikens also led in blocking with 3 solo and 7 block assists. McCrary had a total of 62 assists for an average of 6.2 assists per set. Sherman had 47 digs, averaging 3.92 per set.
The Scotties will return to action on Wednesday in their home opener against Covenant College at 7 p.m. EST.
