Box Score Today's 2-0 win over Wesleyan College in the semi-final round of the GSAC Tournament means the Agnes Scott College soccer team advances to Sunday's championship game. Salem College also advanced following a 5-0 win over Mills College.
After a scoreless first half, Agnes Scott scored twice in the second half. Junior and all-conference player Maddie Shaul scored unassisted 56 minutes in and junior all-conference player Helene Somda scored the second goal about 10 minutes later with an assist from sophomore Ciara Micacchione who was also named to the all-conference team. Sophomore goalie and all-conference player Sydney Holstad played 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.
The Scotties outshot Wesleyan 14-9 and led 10-6 in shots on goal. All-conference player Ivy McIntyre had three shots and two shots on goal. Stephanie Hicks added two shots on goal for the Scotties and Maria Figueroa added one.
The Scotties will face Salem College Sunday at 12 p.m. Eastern time to determine this year's GSAC Champion. Last year's championship game, also between Agnes Scott and Salem, came down to an exciting penalty kick shootout which Agnes Scott won 5-4.
