DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott basketball program kicked off their 2024-25 campaign this evening at the Woodruff Gymnasium with a Fall Back Bash on Monday night. The event allowed the team to highlight their skills for the Agnes Scott community. Coach
Kyle Erha enters his first full season with the Scotties, after taking the helm mid-season in the 2023-24 season. The Scotties look to improve upon their 3-21 mark from a year ago, as they welcome several new faces on their 10-person roster.
A second team All-Conference Selection in 2023-24, Sophomore
Laila Williams, last year's top scorer for the Scotties with 14.1 points per game, looks to be a big factor once again this season. She also led the team in steals, logging 56 takeaways. Also helping out under the basket will be 6'4" senior center
Sydney Evans, who averaged 5 points per game, 7.1 rebounds, and an impressive 2.3 blocks per game. Her block average was second in the Collegiate Conference of the South.
Other returners include senior guards
Lindsay Moore (4.6 ppg, 2.0 apg) and
Ivey Portis (4.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg), who will help provide leadership and experience for the 6 new Scotties who join Coach Erha this season. New to the Scotties are freshmen guards
Alex McElroy,
Zania Gay, and
Ryley Jolly. They are joined by freshman swing player
Jonah Wood and freshmen forwards
Anissa Brailsford and
Sarah Fedrick.Â
The Scotties begin their season on the road on Wednesday, November 13 with a contest at NCAA Division II Young Harris College. The home slate begins this weekend, as the Scotties welcome Brenau and Hollins University to take part in the Agnes Scott Tip-off Classic. Brenau and Hollins will face each other on Friday, November 15, before Agnes Scott hosts Hollins on Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. before taking on Brenau on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. as well.
